good morning and welcome to memorial
stage at bumper shoot 2019 now the last
time I did a bumper street video was
like two three years ago maybe we were
at the arena
Key Arena which I guess is was over
there somewhere anyways they're
renovating Key Arena and I got asked to
do the main stage house LD position and
Plus how could I say no to a gig like
this we're right underneath the Space
Needle or almost right underneath the
Space Needle and we got an awesome stage
line stage and a huge wide-open venue
and helicopters in the sky all sorts of
stuff
the last bumper shoot video that I made
went over really well and I figured that
it'd be good to make another one with a
little higher quality a little newer
different stage different perspective so
that's what this video is gonna be all
about today is our first load end day
for lighting and we're getting close to
flying out our downstage truss and then
flap some lights and I'm gonna program
later tonight this rig was designed by
joke-hole over at our 90 lighting and
consists of elation artist a Picasso
five hour beam extremes zlw 37 s row B
color strobes and some generic led arena lights vendor
blinders all right let's get this ma to
full size rockin
so this console had three 7:03 on it but
I advanced with all the L DS we have
three 7:05 doesn't really matter because
a show file in three seven zero will
work on any ain't show file that starts
in three seven zero but just for
consistency's sake
[Music]
okay now we're gonna make the lights no
we make sure that they don't hit
anything all right those are moving
lights
yeah okay and then the way the test
pattern works is lights of a similar
type should go opposite directions we
are ahead of schedule right now we got
all of our trusses floating and front of
house is being built right now yeah
what's up Jess everything should have
should be lamped off do it I don't even
care all right so they're gonna kill
power and the MA has a built-in UPS
uninterruptible power supply so it'll
continue for a couple minutes after you
power it down but it's always prudent to
save your show file and yeah you see
there it is now save and shutdown so
because these motors the chain is towing
out so much
from vertical like 1015 degrees when we
get it all the way up to trim we have to
real and the trust on these boxes then
we can readjust the span sets and how it
connects to the truss now make it so
when the motor gets all the way up to
trim the the chain is more vertical I'm
gonna
[Music]
my favorite part of the job no just
making sure that like when people build
that they don't care about how to
collapse it like really my only job
making sure it's just like actually
level this one's also my favorite where
they use two different types of clamps
that have different heights and like
slightly different level that's another
fun one that I can't fix
I'm pretty impressed with the Picasso's
like this is daylight that's so that's
just one Picasso we'll have some guest
LDS coming in to work on their ground
packages starting tomorrow I believe
and speaking of ground packages I also
have one since I am going to be doing
double duty on this and doing lights for
Luis the child this is one of their one
of their gigs this summer and I just
happen to be the house healthy so I get
to kind of double dip and get paid twice
and do a really good job on both shows
because when your house l/d you get a
little bit more intimate knowledge and
more time to program and make things
look exactly how you want them so stoked
on that
yeah dude oh my god what is this
thanks Kai thanks Kai don't say hi to
everybody one thing is what kind of
spray on some of these newer fixtures
the default profiles is all of the
shaper is default with incorrect values
so the shutters are kind of like halfway
inserted so I had to go through and
reset the defense so I usually just do
that with the default reset and then you
just call the default preset and now the
photos aren't messed up anymore easy
easy
[Music]
all right we're just about done on stage
time to migrate out to the house and it
sounds about to set and about another
hour or so will actually start to be
able to do something useful with the
lights well it seems like everybody has
left me to the stage the Sun is setting
and I want to be out of here in the next
like hour and a half but I wanted to
show you guys how to set up for in a
house or how I'm going to set up for a
house so first things first power
they ran our snake which gives us both
power and data and backup data Lions the
only unfortunate thing about this
particular snake is that it is
terminated in true one for power which
no big deal we have a tree one adapter
through one to Edison
next thing instead of going directly
into the console with our ether con line
we have two ether con lines a brown one
and a black one the reason I'm not going
directly into the back here is because
I'm going to be using resolume and
having a backup for ma net for my MA to
my light is going to be here tomorrow or
on Friday and I'm gonna end up setting
it there eventually but you need to
switch out here to Network all of your
devices together and I'm gonna take one
cat 5e cable out of ports one
this is gonna be our ma net line
now I just need to connect my switch so
we're going out of our port 1 which is
f20 in the command line and into any of
the ports on our switch then we're going
to take our ether con barrel our season
our ether con and here
first Nick
take the end off and also plug it into
the switch
[Music]
so now we have ma net coming out and
going into the switch but I also need
another lion coming out of fort - which
is in the command line and the way ma
thinks about this port port - is f1
remember a lot of programming languages
count starting they say they start
counting from zero instead of counting
from one like natural numbers like you
maybe learn in school when you first
learn the numbers and artnet is going to
be coming out of port 2 and ma net as
well as scanning ACN it's streaming ACN
almost the mess that one up come out of
here so we see we have our art net 200
at gigabit so you can see our orange
light for 100 Meg and then our green
flashing light for gigabit and the only
thing that's communicating to the rig is
that one Ethernet line which is coming
from the switch and we can see we have
our blinky greens it's a good sign but
for some reason I'm not getting anything
to stage
my tacos not working so this can only
mean one thing that is that our line is
not plugged in on the other side so
first things first I'm just gonna swap
our spare lining so let's see if this
gives us power by power I mean data and
there we go
so yeah we were just swapped so we got
our blinky greens and I open up the
visualizer this is captured 2019
Symphony Edition and the test pattern is
running if I look on stage that is also
doing the same thing I saw I had artnet
running in through this line if I pull
up on PC I can also join the session and
this provides a live tracking back up
so if I find Bumbershoot session and go
ahead and join it my PC will download
the show file and now we're connected in
session log in is the same user and it's
a live tracking backup so I've saved
this as the bumper suit stadium PS are
tested file you know that everything
works the exception of that thing that
I'm gonna go troubleshoot right after
this so yeah that's the basics of
setting up the front-of-house it's
really not too complicated especially
when you're running Ethernet protocols
just one switch a couple of Ethernet
ports and yeah we'll worry about running
timecode and whatnot tomorrow but this
this was the basics of setting up front
of house
[Music]
well guys that is gonna wrap up day
number one I am gonna go power off the
stage and to call that a night I'm gonna
be back here just a little bit tomorrow
I don't know if I'm gonna vlog it or not
but if you enjoyed this video make sure
to LIKE favorite subscribe all that good
stuff and yeah I'll see you in the next
video thanks for watching
